The route, plainly

Sami to Pisaetos, 20–30 minutes. Two operators - Levante Ferries and Ionion Pelagos - each run around 14 weekly crossings in season, carrying cars and foot passengers, with foot tickets in single-digit euros. Poros offers a longer alternative at about 50 minutes. From the airport (EFL), figure 45 minutes across the island to Sami before the boat; from Argostoli, about half an hour.

The Pisaetos truth

The ferry’s honest catch isn’t the sea - it’s the landing. Pisaetos is a quay, not a town: a concrete apron, a hill, and no taxi rank you can count on. Vathy is a ten-minute drive that becomes a very long walk if unplanned. Sort the onward leg before you sail - pre-booked taxi, hire car on the other side, or simply a cruise instead, which is the version of the day where the landing is someone else’s problem.

The season, honestly

Summer’s dozen-plus weekly crossings per operator collapse to a couple per week off-season, and the excursion boats hibernate entirely.
